Frequently Asked Questions

A laptop or desktop computer works best, with a fast broadband internet connection. If you have an audio interface with microphone and headphones, it’s even better!

For vocal technique, yes absolutely. Your coach is highly experienced, and can hear and see all the finer details of how you’re using your voice, via the webcam and the audio connection. The only difference between in-person and online lessons is really in the song work. In online lessons will always be working with backing tracks, or your own instrumentation if you’re eg a guitar or keyboard player. During in-person lessons, Ian will often play songs on guitar or piano- but generally speaking, this doesn’t work too well online, due to the latency involved.

Absolutely! The technology works surprisingly well. The visual and audio cues are picked up perfectly well via modern web cams and audio technology, using special features in the Zoom configuration. Many students have progressed excellently this way.

Simply book in via the online calendar. The details of the call will be included in your confirmation email. Lessons will be guided by Ian, with any exercises provided especially during the call (either played live, or sent via Dropbox to played at your end). The lessons are entirely customised to your ability and what you’re looking to achieve. The Zoom call will also be recorded, so you’ll have an excellent record of the session that you can go back to revise with any time.

Online Sessions are ÂŁ90 for 55minutes coaching, or discounted in blocks of 5 sessions for ÂŁ395 (ÂŁ79 per session).
